A natural sandstone span linking two peaks on Yuanjiajie's plateau - narrow enough to feel improbable, yet broad enough to carry the route forward.

The official manual describes two sandstone peaks joined by a suspended rock corridor. Dense vertical joints gave water a path through the formation, while weathering and collapse opened space on either side.
As the cavities met, the harder rock above remained. The result is not a bridge placed into the landscape, but a surviving section of the landscape itself.

Flowing water enters a dense vertical fracture in the quartz sandstone.

Local collapse deepens
Weathering and rockfall enlarge the opening on both sides of the wall.

The cavities connect
The opposing recesses meet and a natural opening passes through the rock.

The hard span remains
Continued rockfall leaves the resistant upper layer as the bridge deck.

The bridge is easiest to understand when the opposite peak and the open space around the span can be read together. Cloud changes that relationship, sometimes hiding the depth and sometimes making the bridge appear suspended.
The scale deserves a moving view.
