OFFICIAL TOUR GUIDE MANUAL · MOUNTAINEERING ROUTEClimb one trail.
Return by another.
A complete South Gate circuit: sustained ascent, a panoramic plateau loop and a separate mountain descent.
The loop is above.
The work begins below.
Huangshi Village is often remembered for its 360-degree clifftop views. This route explains what it takes to reach and circle them entirely on foot.
The ascent and descent use different trails. That matters to the experience: the day is a true circuit, not a repeated out-and-back walk.
One plateau.
Two mountain trails.
The Front Mountain Trail climbs to Huangshi Village. The grand loop circles the clifftop, then the Back Mountain Trail completes the descent to the South Gate.
Five stages.
No repeated trail.
The Manual records route segments rather than guaranteed timings. Weather, trail conditions and the group's pace determine how the day actually unfolds.

Earn the plateau.
Then read its edge.
The high loop delivers the iconic views, but the contrasting approach trails give the route its full mountain character.

Climb toward the view.
A sustained uphill approach leads from forested lower slopes toward the plateau's open terraces.

The plateau opens
after the ascent.
The Manual describes a 360-degree clifftop loop with Six Wonders Pavilion, Star-picking Terrace, Remaining Piers of the Heavenly Bridge and Golden Turtle in Misty Sea.
Ascent · grand loop · separate descentTHE ROUTE'S COMPLETE WALKING LOGIC
Plan the walking,
not only the view.
One full day
The Manual treats the complete walking circuit as a one-day route.
Official rating 3 / 5
Moderate on the official scale, with sustained ascent and descent rather than a flat loop.
Huangshi Village
Recorded as the lunch point in the Manual; current availability still needs confirmation.
Near the South Gate
The official recommendation keeps the start and finish close to the accommodation base.
Keep the grand loop.
Build a realistic day.
Tell us how you feel about sustained steps, whether the full plateau circuit matters and what support should follow the descent.
